CityPaper Arts Pick

The CityPaper in Philadelphia has been bringing a great independent free paper to the city for 25 years now. We were excited to be the featured Arts Pick the week our show opened. We got a nice little write up on the web and in print, and mention of our tee pee made the cover! Thanks CP.

Opening Night

Thanks
everyone for coming out to the opening night of Radlands. At 6pm a crazy thunderclap roared, followed by a torrential downpour for the following 45min.It was simply the earth making the air fresh and cool for the show b/c the remaining 3 hours was an onslaught of family friends and random folk coming to check out the art + music and guzzle beers (do 2 kegs and jugs of wine usually get kicked at gallery openings?) Overall it was a perfect night, some pieces were sold and we got some positive feedback on Lurker's set... "yea, i liked it...only one of my eras are ringing"

LURKER

Its official, the newly formed group, Lurker, will be blessing folks ear drums the night of the opening of radlands. Lurker is a 4 piece from philly featuring members of Deep Possum. Blending primitive desert stomps with peyote dripped howls and fuzzed out, sun baked & dirt caked guitars, their debut is sure to open minds, if not ears. These dudes are also some of the artists featured in the radlands show, and this music came to them straight from the midwestern plains, stalking a bison, on a grave from the sins of america's fore fathers, a year ago today.

Test build on the magical tee pee. Reaching about 14 feet tall, this guy can sleep 3 comfy. The finished painted outside and cosmic inside will be kept a secret for the opening, so make sure you come by the opening to relax inside this pre- modern "tent"

Hunter and Gatherers... of sticks

Today we went to the forest to hunt large rocks and branches for the show. There was much danger but we forged into the wooded area anyway. While there we waded through a creek to a suitable area for branch and stick harvesting. Using Matt's generations old hatched we hand chopped pieces of a dead tree to aid in the construction of one of our large scale installations. We encountered many woodland creatures including water bugs, a chipmunk , and a gang of wild dogs who we befriended and used for hunting. During our journey we also came upon a dead fawn who's life we celebrated by eating fruit.
